Police name man in his 40s charged with 4 counts of burglary

Lancashire Police had previously issued an appeal to help identify a man they wished to speak to in connection with a burglary reported on Shetland Road.

Following enquiries, a suspect was arrested and the case was reviewed in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Barry Buckley, 43, of no fixed abode, has now been charged with four counts of burglary.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court today.

In a statement, Lancashire Police thanked members of the public who assisted with their earlier appeal.

The force said: “You may remember that a couple of weeks ago we asked for your help identifying a man we wanted to speak to in connection with a report of burglary we received on Shetland Road in Blackpool.

“A man has since been arrested, and following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Barry Buckley, 43, of no fixed abode, has been charged with four counts of burglary and has been remanded to appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court today.”

Police added that, because legal proceedings are now active, comments had been disabled on the original appeal post to minimise any potential risk of prejudicing future court proceedings.
