Cadets and Badgers put their skills to the test during a week of adventure and learning at this year’s St John Ambulance North West Youth Camp.
Hosted at Linnet Clough Scout Camp in Mellor from August 1 to 8, the camp brought together 68 Cadets and nine Badgers, aged five to 17.
The week-long camp offered a mix of outdoor challenges, team-building exercises, and traditional camping experiences.
Maria Marsden, community of practice officer for youth leadership, said: "Camp is about so much more than tents and activities.
"It is about creating a place where young people feel they belong, where they can challenge themselves, discover what they are capable of and develop the confidence to become our leaders of the future."
Throughout the camp, young people were encouraged to develop independence and leadership skills in a supportive environment.
A feature of the week was the involvement of Cadet Team Leaders and young leaders, who worked alongside adult volunteers to take on leadership roles and support younger attendees.
Ms Marsden said: "What made this week so special was seeing our Cadets and Badgers supporting one another, overcoming challenges and growing throughout the week.
"Alongside them was an extraordinary team of volunteers and young leaders who gave their time, skills and energy to make it possible."
The camp was made possible thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers covering first aid, logistics, catering, safeguarding, and many other essential roles.
Ms Marsden paid tribute to their efforts, saying: "From safeguarding and welfare to activities, catering, logistics, tent repairs and even the less glamorous jobs, every contribution mattered.
"It was the HEART values of St John Ambulance in action, and the memories, friendships and confidence our young people have taken home are the greatest measure of its success."
The HEART values, Humanity, Excellence, Accountability, Responsiveness, and Teamwork, were a central theme throughout the week, guiding both volunteers and participants.

In her final reflection, Ms Marsden added: "The phrase that perhaps sums it up best is: ‘The world you’re going to make.’
"These young people are part of the future of St John and our communities, and giving them opportunities like this is an investment in that future."
