A dog in foster care has been left injured after a serious attack during a late-night walk.
The dog, Daniel, is being supported by Pendle Dogs and was out with his foster carer when he was attacked in the Fir Street area of Nelson.
Pendle Dogs said a 'bully-type' dog escaped from a house and launched what the charity described as an unprovoked attack, causing injuries to Daniel’s head, ear, neck and legs.
A spokesperson for Pendle Dogs said: "He isn’t a difficult dog—he’s simply a lovely dog who seems to suffer one piece of bad luck after another. After everything he has been through, he desperately needs somewhere safe, quiet and calm where he can recover."
Daniel required emergency veterinary treatment and will return to the vet for further care.
The charity said the outcome could have been much worse if Daniel had been a smaller dog.
The incident has been reported to police, and Pendle Dogs plans to inform dog wardens as well.

Because of the attack, Daniel can no longer remain in his current foster home.
Pendle Dogs is urgently seeking a new foster or permanent home for him.
The charity said: "He’s waited patiently in foster without receiving a single bit of interest. He is a beautiful, gentle boy who can live alongside other dogs with careful introductions—he’s frightened, not aggressive, and has never hurt anyone."
Daniel cannot be placed in homes with young children or cats, and potential carers must live within the charity’s catchment area.
