The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police said a man has now come forward and identified himself but they also need to identify the man in the CCTV image as they believe he can help their enquiries.

The man who came forward is due to be interviewed by officers.

If you are the person in the CCTV image or you recognise him, email 5155@lancashire.police.uk or call 101 quoting log 0077 of August 22, 2026.
