Police have charged a man with drugs offences after a vehicle was stopped in South Ribble.

At around 3pm on Monday, officers from the Leyland Neighbourhood Policing team stopped a car that was 'acting suspiciously' on Lindle Lane, near Hutton.

Following a search, 50 packets of cocaine and around £1300 in cash were discovered inside the car and the driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

During a search of a nearby property, officers also found over £105,000 in cash.

Sam Haworth, 39, of Martinfield Road, Penwortham, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear before Preston Magistrates Court today.
