A Ribchester pub that has a “bit of everything” and a beer garden that is the perfect suntrap is our latest pub of the week.
The White Bull Hotel, in Church Street, was taken over in October and has continued to maintain its reputation for great food and a great atmosphere.
We caught up with employee Dawn Douglas.
Introduce yourself
My name is Dawn Douglas, and I have been at the pub for three years.
How has it been going?
Yeah, very good. We got a new owner back in October, and it's been going well.
How would you describe the pub?

It’s lovely. It's the oldest pub in Ribchester, really nice, nice setting, nice food.
We have a bit of everything. We’ve got screens on if you want to watch some sport and a lovely dining area.
What is the food like?
We mostly do classics, but have specials boards as well.
We used to have a guest every Tuesday – we did a Thai night with a guest chef coming over – but we've stopped doing that for now.
I don’t know if that’s something we’re going to restart in the future.
It offers a delicious Sunday Roast (Image: White Bull Inn)
Do you host any events?
Yeah, we have live music on. We have a solo singer who comes over.
There are a couple of young lads in the village who sometimes like to come and sing here. We’ve done that a couple of times. It’s nice to have live music on.

Do you have a beer garden?
Yeah, we’ve got a beautiful beer garden.
The beer garden backs onto the Ribchester Roman baths. It’s not really a view, but it’s a beautiful sun trap. Lovely in the summer.
What’s the best thing about working in the pub?
Well, everything. It’s just nice. Nice people coming in and it’s a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
What have you got on your draught line-up?
We’ve had Moorhouse's on the cask ales, and we have a mixture of lagers, Guinness, Stella and San Miguel, and the Hawkstone, which goes down well.
