The date for this year’s Official World Black Pudding Throwing Championship has been confirmed.
The competition will be returning to Ramsbottom’s Bridge Street on Sunday, September 13.
Hundreds of people attend the event every year and the 2026 day will run from 11am to 6pm.
Last year’s event, on September 14, 2025, saw hundreds brave the wet weather to take part and speculate.

Celebrations featured a donut stall, multiple drinks stalls, fairground rides for children and a live music stage featuring around 15 local bands.
The World Black Pudding Throwing Championships have been a regular annual tradition since 1984.
However, a group of dedicated volunteers worked hard to ensure it could go ahead after all.

Last year’s winner was Jedd Flan, from Salford, who has been attending for 17 years.
The winning shot was 20 ft long and 20 ft up.
The puddings are supplied by Chadwicks Black Puddings on Bury Market.
They are expertly tested ahead of time to make sure that they meet the correct weight and size criteria before being stuffed into a stocking to prevent any disintegration upon landing.

Contestants must stand on a block known as the ‘golden grid’ to throw the puddings from.
They aim to knock Yorkshire puddings off a plinth, 20 feet high.
All proceeds are donated to charity, and the Yorkshire puddings are provided by Aunt Bessies.
Previous champions have hailed from all over the world, including Bury, Turkey, Wales and even Australia.
Last year's event saw participants from countries including Hong Kong, America, Japan, Australia, France, Peru and Sri Lanka.
