Search the Public Notice PortalA new bar, bistro, and coffee lounge is set to open its doors in Kirkham within the next few weeks following a major investment in one of the town's most historic buildings.
The team behind 1860, which is preparing to open in the former TSB building on Poulton Street, has confirmed it is on track to welcome customers within the next two to three weeks after completing an extensive refurbishment of the landmark property.
The venue represents a significant six-figure investment into Kirkham town centre and is expected to create further jobs as the business grows.
A spokesperson for 1860 said: "We're on track to open within the next three weeks.
"This has been a significant six-figure investment into Kirkham High Street, transforming the space into a brand-new destination for the local community.
"The project has already created a number of new jobs, with more opportunities expected as the business grows."
The Grade II-listed building, which dates back to 1860 and previously served as the Girls' Charity School before later becoming a Lloyds/TSB bank, was purchased by Fylde Council in 2022 as part of wider regeneration plans for Kirkham.
The property has since undergone extensive restoration works through the Kirkham Futures programme.
Owners say 1860 has been designed to serve customers throughout the day, offering everything from breakfast and brunch through to evening meals and drinks.
The spokesperson added: "1860 has been designed as a place people can enjoy from morning through to evening, whether that's breakfast, brunch, coffee with friends, lunch, live sport, drinks, or dinner on our beautiful terrace.
"We can't wait to welcome the community through the doors and bring something fresh, exciting, and unique to Kirkham."
The opening plans come after the operators altered their intended approach for the venue.
Initially, proposals were submitted that would have required planning permission for a change of use to operate primarily as a drinking establishment.

However, the operators subsequently decided to focus on a restaurant-led offer instead.
As a result, the planning application was withdrawn because the building already benefits from the appropriate permissions for the revised concept.
Work is now continuing on the final stages of the fit-out ahead of the expected opening in the coming weeks.
The venue is expected to offer a mix of food, coffee, live sport, and hospitality, adding a new attraction to Kirkham's high street and bringing one of the town's most prominent historic buildings back into active use.
