Major road closures planned on routes around Colne

Lancashire County Council has issued a temporary traffic order affecting Knotts Lane, Southfield Lane, and Back Lane from Saturday, August 8.

The closure will remain in place each weekend until Sunday, September 6, between 6am and 6pm.

The order will allow for surface dressing carriageway works to be carried out by Lancashire County Council.

The closure covers Knotts Lane from The Old Brickworks to its junction with Southfield Lane, Southfield Lane from its junction with Knotts Lane to Back Lane, and Back Lane from its junction with Southfield Lane to Shelfield Lane.

Alternative routes for affected traffic have been provided and will be signposted during the closure.

The signed diversion route includes Delves Lane, Southfield Lane, Barkerhouse Road, Leeds Road, Burnley Road (Colne), Knotts Lane, Bridge Street, Albert Road, Church Street (Colne), Market Street, Keighley Road, Cotton Tree Lane, Skipton Road, Church Street (Trawden), Burnley Road (Trawden), and Shelfield Lane.

Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained throughout the closure.

Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever possible.

The council has confirmed that works are dependent on weather conditions and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.

Appropriate traffic signs will be in place on site, in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
