A Barnoldswick woman has received a suspended prison sentence after admitting burglary and failing to answer court bail.
Heather Sharples, 58, of Wellhouse Road, appeared at Burnley Magistrates’ Court on July 16.
Sharples pleaded guilty to entering a house in Bethel Street, Barnoldswick, as a trespasser on February 10, 2026, and taking two deactivated firearms and a gas-propelled air gun worth £300.
The court heard Sharples failed to attend Blackburn Magistrates' Court on April 10, 2026, having previously been granted bail after an earlier hearing at Preston Magistrates’ Court.
The defence said Sharples was still recovering from pneumonia at the time.
Sharples was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a fine of £272.
