Lancashire County Council has confirmed that Sawley Bridge Lane, in Sawley, will be closed to all traffic.
The closure will affect the section from the junction with Smalden Lane, heading southwards, up to a point adjacent to Riverside Cottage.
The prohibition will be in effect from 9.30am on July 27 until 3pm on August 7.
The closure is required to allow essential structural works to take place on the bridge.
Works are expected to be completed within the period.
While the road is closed, vehicular access will be maintained for residents whenever possible.
Pedestrian access to properties will remain unaffected throughout the duration of the works.
Similarly, emergency vehicle access will be prioritised where possible.
Traffic signs will be in place on site to notify the public of the closure and guide motorists.
An alternative route for vehicles will be signposted.

The diversion will direct traffic via Gisburn Road (A59), Clitheroe Road (A59), Mill Lane, Gisburn Road, Main Street, Settle Road, Bolton By Bowland Road, and Smalden Lane.
