A convicted paedophile is back behind bars after sexually assaulting a young girl.

Gerrard Cadd, 65, of Pendle Close, Bacup, appeared at Burnley Crown Court on Friday (July 17) over offences of assaulting a girl by penetration and assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.

Cadd was found guilty of the offences following a trial.

Returning to the same court, he was jailed for a total of nine years, with a further extended licence period of a year, by Judge Daniel Prowse.

Cadd has been locked up before, having gone down for three years in 2015 over more sexual offending.

At that time he was found guilty of inciting a young girl to engage in sexual activity during a trip to a donkey enclosure at Healey Dell nature reserve, near Whitworth.

During the investigation into those offences, he was also found with nearly 2,000 indecent images of children in his home.
