A Skelmersdale primary school has apologised after parents raised concerns over references to OnlyFans in its social media policy.
Delph Side Primary School came under scrutiny after parents reviewing publicly available policy documents noticed the platform was listed alongside social media sites such as Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat.
The policy stated: "The use of social networking/media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and Only Fans has over recent years become the primary form of communication between friends and family.

"It would not be reasonable to expect or instruct employees not to use these sites which, if used with caution, should have no impact whatsoever on their role in school."
One parent told another newspaper they were concerned the wording could be interpreted as approving teachers' use of the platform, which is now widely associated with adult content.
They said: "I find it disturbing that my child's school has a social media policy that includes teachers' use of OnlyFans.
"It reads to me that it is acceptable for teachers to be on it."
In response, headteacher Liz Ormerod said the reference was outdated and did not reflect the platform's current reputation.
She explained that the mention of OnlyFans had been included as part of a generic list of social media platforms taken from local authority guidance several years ago.
Ms Ormerod said: "Although the school's social media policy was last updated in 2025, this section had not been updated since 2022, and the reference does not mean the school endorses or approves use of the platform by staff.
"The wording is out of date and does not reflect the platform's current association with adult content."
OnlyFans launched in 2016 as a subscription-based content platform for creators before becoming predominantly associated with adult content.

The headteacher said the school's policy has now been updated to remove the reference and better reflect current expectations.
She added: "All staff are expected to maintain the highest professional standards at all times and are subject to strict safeguarding and conduct requirements.
"We apologise for any concern this may have caused."
At the time the issue was raised, the version of the policy available on the school's website still contained the reference to OnlyFans.
