A McDonald's restaurant just over 20 minutes from the Lancashire border has reopened following a major redesign that has created 20 new jobs.

The restaurant at Aintree, on the outskirts of Liverpool and close to the M57, has undergone a refurbishment aimed at improving the customer experience and meeting the growing demand for digital ordering and delivery services.

The revamp has also led to the creation of an additional 20 full and part-time roles.

The restaurant is operated by local franchisee Mark Blundell, who owns 22 McDonald's restaurants across the North West.

The redesigned site features a modernised dining area, changes to the ordering process, and dedicated spaces for delivery drivers and dine-in customers.

A new kitchen layout has also been introduced, alongside improved staff facilities, including a redesigned crew room.

Mr Blundell said: "I'm delighted to be reinvesting in our Aintree restaurant.

"With over 6.1 million visitors to the retail park each year and Aintree being best known as the home of the Grand National, it's important that our restaurant continues to offer a great experience for both local customers and the many people visiting the area.

"The redesign features a modern, contemporary dining area and separate facilities for our dine-in customers and our couriers, leading to a better experience for everyone.

"I'm confident the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our restaurant team as these will help make their jobs a little easier."

The refurbishment forms part of McDonald's wider restaurant modernisation programme, which aims to accommodate changing customer habits, including increased use of self-service kiosks, the McDonald's app, and delivery services.

Among the key changes are a redesigned front counter with dedicated collection points, a courier waiting area to reduce congestion in customer seating areas, and an expanded order assembly space within the kitchen to improve speed and accuracy.

Staff facilities have also been upgraded, with improved break areas designed to provide a more comfortable environment for employees.

The Aintree restaurant is located around 10 miles from Ormskirk and can be reached from the Lancashire border in around 20 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions.
