Blackburn with Darwen Council said work is being carried out on Darwen Moor "to prevent hot spots from starting a fire again" after around four hectares of moorland were damaged.
Blackburn with Darwen Council confirmed work has been ongoing for several days, after a fire broke out on the moorland at around 4.25pm on Sunday, July 12.
Responsibility for the site has been passed to Blackburn with Darwen Council.
A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: "It's been three days since a wildfire broke out on Darwen Moor – and our staff are still part of the response.
"Council teams were part of the staff who supported Lancashire Fire and Rescue’s emergency response on Sunday, when the wildfire was first reported, as part of our wildfire emergency plan.
"From 3pm until around 11pm, our green spaces and emergency call-out teams, plus our Moors Ranger, were up on the moor.
"Part of our support was to use a gully wagon to provide extra water to the fire crews that were tackling the blaze."
The council said its teams have been carrying out vital follow-up work.
The spokesman said: "Today our green spaces team are up on the moor strimming around the edges of the area where the fire took hold – and they did the same yesterday and Monday too.
"This is important work after a wildfire on peat moorland to prevent hot spots from starting a fire again."
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 3.37pm on July 14, it was reported that the fire had affected around four hectares of moorland and had been fully extinguished using specialist wildfire equipment.
"A handover from the Wildfire Tactical Advisor was completed, and responsibility for the site was passed to Blackburn with Darwen Council."
The council praised frontline responders and partner agencies.
The spokesperson said: "United Utilities and neighbouring landowners were also part of the emergency response on Sunday, and it’s clear that swift action and partnership working prevented the fire from spreading further across the moors.
"Thank you to all the services and individuals who responded so swiftly on Sunday afternoon, and to the landowner and their team.
"You’re all amazing."
