There was traffic chaos in Burnley on Monday afternoon after a lorry hit a bridge.

An HGV collided with a bridge in Finsley Gate, causing a road closure and major disruption.

The vehicle became trapped under the bridge, with nearby residents describing heavy congestion and "absolute chaos" until the incident was cleared later in the evening.

A police spokesperson said: "Earlier, we advised that Finsley Gate, Burnley, was closed due to a vehicle striking a bridge.

"We are pleased to advise the road is now open.

"Thank you for your patience."

Police have confirmed no arrests were made, and no injuries have been reported.
