There are delays on the M6 due to an obstruction on the road, traffic websites have confirmed.

Part of the southbound M6 is blocked due to a road obstruction at junction 31, near Preston New Road, Samlesbury.

The incident caused delays of seven minutes, with vehicles moving at an average speed of 15mph.

Police have been approached for details about the obstruction.

An AA Traffic and Travel spokesperson said: "M6 partially blocked and slow traffic due to obstruction on the road on M6 southbound at J31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury)."
