Rail passengers in Blackburn will face disruption on Friday this week after several services were cancelled by Northern.
Northern has cancelled its hourly service between Blackburn and Rochdale via Darwen due to forecast hot weather on Friday, June 10.
Passengers are being advised to check their journeys, as remaining trains are expected to be extremely busy and subject to short-notice cancellations.
Reduced timetables are also in place across Greater Manchester and beyond during the heatwave.
A Northern spokesperson said: "To help keep trains running during the extreme heat, we are unfortunately having to substantially reduce the number of trains running on routes in and out of Manchester.
"This is to ensure we can continue to run some services reliably; however, this does mean that the trains which are running will be in high demand.
"We strongly recommend customers consider whether their journey is necessary, and if you do choose to travel tomorrow, please check before you travel, prepare for longer waiting times, busy trains and short-notice cancellations."

Passengers using the Southport to Manchester Oxford Road route, which serves stations in West Lancashire, will also be impacted, as that service will not run.
Northern has apologised for the inconvenience and has said it will keep customers informed about any changes.
Other affected routes across the North include services between Manchester Victoria and Leeds, Hazel Grove and Manchester Piccadilly, and Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton.
Some services will continue to operate but at a reduced frequency of one train per hour.
