Lancashire County Council has confirmed that Sandygate will be shut to traffic from July 20 to July 22.
The closure will be in place from the junction of Trafalgar Street to the junction of Neptune Street.
Traffic will be diverted via Queens Lancashire Way, Manchester Road, and Trafalgar Street.
The work is being carried out by Barnfield Construction Ltd.
It will involve the removal of an existing granite speed bump and its replacement with a tarmac speed hump.
Works are scheduled to take place between 8am and 5pm each day.
The council has stated that access for emergency services will be maintained.
Vehicular access for residents will be maintained as much as possible.
