Plans for a new housing development in Lancaster have been approved, paving the way for 58 homes to be built off Slyne Road.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey North West has secured planning permission for the scheme, known as Beaumont Rise, which will mark the company’s arrival in the city.

Work on the development is expected to begin in July.

Mix of homes planned

The site will feature a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties aimed at a range of buyers, including first-time buyers, families and downsizers.

Plans also include public open space, landscaped green areas and pedestrian links throughout the development, alongside energy-efficient features in the new homes.

Developers say existing landscape features on the site will be retained and enhanced as part of the scheme.

Charity donation linked to project

As part of its involvement in the area, the housebuilder has made a £1,000 donation to Lancaster charity Eggcup, which supports people experiencing food poverty.

The funding is expected to go towards equipment at the charity’s new premises, including a portable conveyor belt to help volunteers handle food deliveries more safely and efficiently.

Developer comments

Gavin Powell, sales director at Taylor Wimpey North West, said the company was looking forward to getting work underway.

He said: "We’re pleased to be bringing Beaumont Rise forward and look forward to seeing work begin on site.

"We’re pleased to be supporting organisations such as Eggcup as we begin work in the area, reflecting our commitment to contributing locally from the outset."

He added that the development aims to meet demand for housing in the city and create a new neighbourhood for residents.
