Oswaldtwistle Carnival is making its return this weekend with a carnival procession, live music and fairground rides planned.
Oswaldtwistle Carnival, set to take place on Sunday, June 21, promises a full day of family fun and community spirit.
The event will begin with a colourful procession through the streets of Oswaldtwistle, starting at 12pm from Harvey Street and looping back by 1pm via Thwaites Road, Stanhill Lane, and Union Road.
A spokesperson for Hyndburn Council said: "Oswaldtwistle Carnival is back for another year— this time organised by Accrington Community Events team.
"The day will begin with a vibrant procession through the streets of Oswaldtwistle and end with a carnival field day."
This year’s procession will include more than a dozen participating groups, among them the Accrington Pipe Band, Super Gymnastics, Sea Cadets, and classic cars.
Following the parade, visitors can enjoy fairground rides, live music, food and drink vendors, character meet-and-greets, and free arts and crafts.
A variety of business and charity stalls will also be on site.
Accrington Community Events confirmed security at this year's event will be increased, and there will be random bag checks.
A spokesperson said: "We have plenty in store for you and all the family.
"This year, we will be implementing randomised bag checks on all carnival goers.
"These bag checks will only be performed by trained SIA security personnel and will only check for offensive weapons.
"Once checked, your bag will receive a tag around to confirm it's been checked and means you won't be disturbed again.
"This has all come about due to the recent events which have happened over the past few years, which have pushed the UK terrorism threat level to 'Severe'.
"We do not want this to cause any distress to anyone or come as a surprise on the day and hope that you understand why we need to implement this level of security, which is for the safety of everyone.
"We ask that if you are requested to have your bag checked, you cooperate with the security personnel performing the task."
