There is a farm on Rossall Lane on the edge of Fleetwood that has been welcoming families for decades, and which offers something most animal attractions do not: a genuine 10,000 square foot museum of Fylde country life tucked inside its farm buildings before you even reach the animals.

Most visitors arrive expecting a farmyard. They leave having also wandered through reconstructed Victorian and Edwardian workshops, a cottage interior, a blacksmith, a clogger’s shop, a dairy, World War One and Two displays and 26 major themed exhibits in all.

The farm itself

Once past the museum, the farm opens out into paddocks where a wide range of animals roam across the site – including cows, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, llamas, alpacas, horses, donkeys and deer.

Visitors can buy animal feed and hand-feed many of the animals as they follow the paths around the paddocks.

A structured daily timetable of events adds shape to the visit:

  • 10.30am – Meet the reptiles (Animal Barn)
  • 11.15am – Equine encounter (Animal Barn)
  • 1pm – Tractor ride (from the farm entrance, £2 per person)
  • 1.25pm – Farm tour (Animal Barn)
  • 2.15pm – Small animal handling (Animal Barn)
  • 2.45pm – Chick handling (Animal Barn)
  • 3.30pm – Tractor ride (weekends only, from the farm entrance, £2 per person)

Pony rides and animal shows also run on busier days and during peak seasons.

All-weather options

Farmer Parrs operates year-round, including through Lancashire winters, which makes its indoor offer particularly important.

As well as the museum, there is a large indoor bouncy castle barn and picnic space, outdoor adventure play areas and a jumping pillow in the grounds.

The café – described as a bistro – serves food throughout the day, with a gift shop and pottery studio also on site.

One visitor who arrived on the Fleetwood tram, getting off at the Rossall School stop for a short walk, said: "The farm has everything you need for a lovely day out – a good selection of animals to visit and feed, play areas, indoor ball pool and a nice café."

A popular Fylde attraction

Farmer Parrs is consistently ranked among the top attractions in Fleetwood on TripAdvisor, with hundreds of reviews from visitors.

Part of the appeal is the pricing. Tickets are currently:

  • Adult – £10.00
  • Child (1–16) – £10.00
  • Carers – £9.00
  • Family (2 adults + 2 children) – £38
  • Under 1s – free

That places it at the more accessible end of the market for a day out that typically lasts several hours.

Getting there

Farmer Parrs Animal World is on Rossall Lane, Fleetwood, FY7 8JP. It is open every day from 10am to 5pm, with last admission at 4pm, and closes between Christmas and New Year.

The number 14 bus from Fleetwood and Blackpool passes close by, and the Blackpool tram stops at Rossall School, around half a mile from the entrance – making it accessible without a car, which is not always the case for farm attractions in Lancashire.
