A seven-year-old rescue dog is still waiting for a place to call home after spending nine months being overlooked in favour of younger pets.

Kobe, a Deerhound cross Lurcher, has been described as an affectionate and loyal companion who is "ready and waiting" for the right family to come along.

Rescuers say the gentle hound has been waiting since being found abandoned as a stray in August 2025, and despite his loving nature, potential adopters have continued to pass him by.

One volunteer said: "His suitcase is packed and ready, but no one has given him the chance to unpack it yet.

"He’s wondering why."

Kobe is currently being cared for in a foster home alongside two other hounds, although staff believe he would be just as happy as the only dog in the household.

"He really does love human company and would suit someone who can spend a lot of time with him," they added.

Despite his age, Kobe is a fit and active dog who enjoys long walks and exploring the outdoors. A quieter lifestyle would suit him best, with countryside settings and beach walks among his favourite pastimes.

Described as "a wonderful dog with plenty of lovable character", Kobe is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and is ready to move to his forever home as soon as the right match is found.

Northern Greyhound Rescue says it can arrange adoptions both locally and nationally, subject to a successful home check.

Anyone who thinks they could offer Kobe the home he deserves is encouraged to get in touch.
