A shepherd who went on the booze after lambing had finished lost his memory and his driving licence after blowing more than twice the legal limit.
Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard Darren Tillotson had picked up a takeaway and then gone home in a taxi.
Then, for reasons he could not explain, he got in his car and drove to get another takeaway.
"He just doesn't understand why he did it, and he can't remember doing it," said John Greenwood, in mitigation.
Tillotson, 38, of Hackings Holiday Home Park, Elker Lane, Billington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and was disqualified from driving for a year and eight months.
He was also fined £461 with a £184 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Darren Fitzpatrick, prosecuting, said police received multiple calls at around 9.15pm on Friday, April 10, about a pick-up truck colliding with multiple parked vehicles in Billington.
Tillotson had tried to drive his Toyota Hilux away but was detained by members of the public.
After his arrest, he blew 88 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35mcg.
Mr Greenwood said Tillotson worked on the family-owned caravan park but also kept about 100 sheep.
"This incident occurred on the last day of his lambing period," said Mr Greenwood.
"For six or seven weeks, he hadn't been out or had a drink.
"He had been tending his flock till late at night and sometimes during the night, and was then starting again at 5am."
Having finished lambing, Tillotson went out in a taxi and went drinking with friends.
"He clearly had far too much to drink," said Mr Greenwood.
"He got a takeaway and a taxi home. He then can't explain why he would have got in his car to get another takeaway when he had just eaten.
"It just doesn't make sense."
