The sentencing of a teenage boy who started a huge fire at a Lancashire nightclub has been pushed back.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, was due to appear at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday afternoon (June 2).

The hearing was unable to go ahead and has been re-listed for Monday, July 27.

A mention hearing was also scheduled for Tuesday, June 23.

The boy pleaded guilty to a charge of arson relating to the Park Hall nightclub in Charnock Richard at a Preston Magistrates' Court hearing in April.

Ten fire engines were called to the grounds of the nightclub on the night of April 7 earlier this year.

Images from the scene showed large flames coming from the nightclub building, which is in a complex alongside a leisure centre and a gym close to the M6.

A club spokesperson said at the time: "While areas have been significantly affected, the nightclub itself has sustained less damage than we first thought.

"We will look at beginning restoration as soon as possible and hope to reopen in the near future."
