A haul of suspected fake goods has been uncovered at a car boot sale.

More than 500 counterfeit perfume bottles and dozens of suspected fake electronics were discovered by Lancashire County Council Trading Standards officers at two stalls at Norcross Car Boot Sale in Wyre on May 27.

The operation was assisted by police officers based in the Wyre area.

County Councillor Joshua Roberts, cabinet member for Rural Affairs, Environment and Communities, said: "People are often unaware that the money made from the sale of counterfeit goods funds organised crime groups and the trade in counterfeit goods can attract further criminal activity associated with organised crime groups.

"Not only does it fund organised crime, but the trade affects legitimate businesses trying to make a living.

"We will not tolerate the trade of counterfeit goods in Lancashire and will take robust enforcement action to stop it."

In total, 546 suspected fake perfume bottles were seized, with each being sold for £10 or £15.

The haul could have generated up to £8,190 if sold to the public.

Alongside the perfumes, officers also found 50 suspected counterfeit Apple and Samsung products.

Items included three Samsung chargers, four Apple watches, 19 Apple AirPods, seven Apple AirPods Max products, eight Apple chargers, and nine Apple headphones.

The products are believed to be not only fake but also potentially unsafe, lacking proper CE safety markings and posing a risk of fire during use or disposal.
