A road was closed for several hours as emergency crews dealt with a two-crash on a busy road in Oswaldtwistle.

The incident happened on Union Road, near the Harvey Green roundabout, late on Monday afternoon (May 25).

Firefighters were seen carrying out a rescue operation using specialist equipment, while police secured the area and paramedics treated those involved.

The road was closed while crews made the area safe, causing delays for drivers on one of the hottest days of the year.

One person was taken to hospital. Police said one person suffered 'minor injuries' and they were called just after 5pm.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service asked drivers to avoid the area as an investigation was conducted and the road was cleared.
