Oscar-shortlisted filmmaker giving masterclass in Lancaster

The two-day event, which has already transformed the careers of more than 3,000 attendees, will be held at the University of Cumbria on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28.

Led by Oscar-shortlisted filmmaker and bestselling author Chris Jones, the masterclass takes attendees through the entire filmmaking journey, from concept to screen and beyond.

The event is being organised in association with the Bay International Film Festival and the Bay Education and Creative Hub, based in Morecambe.

Both organisations are dedicated to bringing high-quality film opportunities to the North of England.

The masterclass is described as intense, practical, and highly motivating, focusing on actionable advice rather than film school theory.

Day one will run from 9am to around 7pm, starting with registration at 8.30am.

Day two will begin with a networking breakfast at 9.30am, followed by sessions from 10am to approximately 6pm.

The course covers every stage of the filmmaking process, including story development, screenwriting, budgeting, fundraising, casting, production, directing, camera work, sound, post-production, sales, distribution, film festivals, and navigating Hollywood opportunities.

Mr Jones is known for starting his career with no budget or industry connections and working his way up to a cinema release, agent representation, and Hollywood deals.

He is the founder and director of the London Screenwriters Festival and the writer of the widely respected Guerilla Film Makers Handbook.

His short film Gone Fishing was shortlisted for an Academy Award.

Most recently, he co-executive-produced a four-part Apple TV docuseries and directed splinter unit work on Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2.
