Police in Pendle have nabbed drivers for speeding and motoring offences following a road safety operation.
Officers from the Prosper Partnership Team, Pendle Task Force joined forces with the Pendle Neighbourhood team on Wednesday.
The operation focused on Brierfield and Colne with a view to tackling ‘anti-social behaviour, road safety and criminality’, police said.
Teams were supported by Tactical Operations and the DVSA Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency).
Several vehicles were stopped near to the B&Q in Brierfield with checks on driving licences, insurance and road worthiness of the vehicles.
A police spokesperson said: “The majority of the vehicles were all in order with only a small number of traffic offences identified.
“Officers also headed to Colne and attended Regent street, Colne for speed enforcement checks where a number of traffic offence reports were issued due to speeding.
“You may have also seen officers on Keighley Road, Laneshaw Bridge where a large number of vehicles were stopped.
“The vast majority of these were all checked and no issues identified. One vehicle was issued a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) for speeding and another for using a mobile phone whilst driving.”
Five drivers were reported for speeding, one vehicle was seized for no insurance, one for driving otherwise in accordance with the licence and two were ticketed for registration plates not conforming with DVLA regulations.
There was a warning issued for antisocial behaviour driving and another driver was discovered with drugs when was stopped and searched.
