Concerns have been raised about matchday parking at Burnley Football Club, with a councillor saying that disabled residents are being “forcibly obstructed” by cars.
Cllr Maheen Kamran, who sits as an independent for Burnley Central East on Lancashire County Council, raised the issue at February’s budget.
It was argued that parking in Holcombe Drive and Belvedere Road, a short walk from Turf Moor stadium, has led to the entire estate's entrance being blocked for some residents.
She said that changes to permits should be introduced, which would provide “fairness, access, and protect vulnerable residents”.
Cllr Kamran said: “On streets like Holcombe Drive and Belvedere Road, just opposite Burnley Football Club, there are families where children are disabled.
"On matchdays, their entire house entrance is blocked, cars are parked across their access, leaving them unable to step outside their front door or guarantee emergency access.
“That is not an inconvenience but forced obstruction.”
She also added that the issue has arisen from staffing levels, meaning staff cannot progress residents' parking schemes quickly enough, leaving many exposed.
The issue is not unique to Burnley, and Cllr Kamran also highlighted issues in Preston and Lancaster, which are affected by sporting events and concerts.

Cllr Kamran said: “Current staffing levels cannot progress residents' parking schemes quickly enough, and leave families like this being repeatedly exposed.
“This is not unique to Burnley but also Preston and Lancaster, where major events, sporting fixtures and concerts lead to streets being completely filled with cars, causing the same problems: blocked drives, unsafe pedestrian access and restricted pedestrian access.
“Without additional capacity, these schemes take months to implement, leaving residents trapped or at risk.
“This is reasonable, proportionate and necessary not just for Burnley but for communities across Lancashire.
“We need faster action, more capacity, and residents put first.
“I’ll keep pushing this. If you’re affected, please reach out.”
