A man was arrested yesterday morning in Church after being detained by a member of the community over suspected thefts.

Lancashire Constabulary received the call at around 7am on Friday, April 10, after a suspicious male had been sighted on a doorbell camera in First Avenue.

It was believed he had been trying to break into properties.

Immediate response officers in the area received another report that a member of the public had detained a male in Dill Hill Lane, after they had seen him climbing over a neighbour’s fence.

They arrested the 50-year-old male for burglary, and he remains in custody, whilst their investigation continues.
