A new amateur dramatic society is aiming to bring "fantastic community spirit" and theatre back to Bacup this spring.
Bacup Little Theatre will make its debut with a production of Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy A Chorus of Disapproval, running from Wednesday, April 22, to Saturday, April 25, at the ABD Centre, with performances starting at 7.30pm each day.
The play follows a small-town amateur operatic society attempting to stage a grand opera, with chaotic and humorous results, offering a behind-the-scenes look at amateur dramatics.
The group has been formed to create new opportunities for local people to get involved in theatre, whether on stage, backstage or as audience members.

Founder Aniello Gioia said: “Bacup has a fantastic community spirit and a proud history of live performance.
"Bacup Little Theatre has been created to give people another opportunity to experience theatre locally – whether that’s performing, volunteering, or simply enjoying a great night out.
“We wanted our first production to be something fun and energetic, and A Chorus of Disapproval is perfect.
"It’s a play about amateur theatre itself, so audiences will recognise a lot of the characters and situations.”
Tickets are priced at £12 and are available online, or in person from Wishes Galore in Bacup, where buyers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher.
Organisers hope the production will mark the start of a long future for the group while encouraging more people to support live performance in the town.
