A man failed to attend a probation hearing to get a pre-sentence report as he was at the dentist.
Magueye Niang-Fall, 18, was due to attend the meeting on March 9 but contacted the probation service to move this to March 12.

When they contacted Niang-Fall on that date, they did not receive a response as he had forgotten to tell them about the dental appointment.
Niang-Fall, of Rouse Street, Rochdale, was due to be sentenced for an offence of dangerous driving which took place on and near the M65 near Burnley last year.

Celia Pritchard, representing Niang-Fall at Preston Crown Court, said given the defendant’s age, it would be a difficult sentencing exercise for the judge without a pre-sentence report.
Recorder Katie Jones adjourned the hearing to June 15 and granted Niang-Fall bail on the conditions that he lives at an address as directed by Social Services and that he cooperates with the probation service in the creation of his pre-sentence report.
She said: “If you don’t turn up to the appointment, you will be breaching your bail. If you don’t turn up on the next occasion, you will be committing an offence under the Bail Act, for which you can be separately punished.”
