Three people have been arrested in Blackpool on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found inside a wheelie bin in a Coventry park.

Detectives are now appealing to the public to help identify him through his distinctive tattoos.

A member of the public discovered the body in a green-lidded Coventry City Council bin in Cash's Park, off Daimler Road, at around 5pm on Friday, March 13.

The man, believed to be aged between 40 and 50, has not yet been formally identified.

Overnight, West Midlands Police arrested a woman in her 40s, a man in his 40s and a man in his 20s in Blackpool on suspicion of murder and assisting an offender.

All three remain in custody as enquiries continue.

Detectives believe the victim may have been struck by a vehicle before his body was moved to the park in the bin.

Officers are working with Coventry City Council to establish where the wheelie bin was taken from, and are also appealing to anyone in the area who had a green-lidded bin stolen to come forward.

In a bid to identify the man, police have released details of two distinctive tattoos.

He has a tattoo of a cross with a snake wrapped around it on his back, alongside the words "Little Stardust", and a tattoo on his right arm reading "nan", accompanied by a clover design and the colours of the Irish flag.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, from the force's Major Crime Unit, said:

"I really want to hear from anyone who recognises the descriptions of the tattoos on the man, as they are quite distinctive.

"If you know or are responsible for what happened to this man, I would urge you to come forward now so that we can get the answers that he deserves."

DCI Poole also urged anyone who had noticed unexplained damage to a vehicle, or a sudden change in behaviour from a driver they know, to get in touch.

Anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage from the area is asked to call 101 quoting log 4148 of 13 March.
