Civic leaders have paid tribute to the community spirit driving a foodbank.
The Pantry Foodbank Fleetwood welcomed the Mayor of Wyre, Councillor Steve Nicholls, Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire Amanda Parker, and the Bishop of Blackburn Philip North for a visit last week.
The visit highlighted the foodbank’s vital role in supporting individuals and families across Fleetwood.
During the visit, dignitaries toured the facilities, met volunteers, and learned more about the day-to-day running of the foodbank and its growing demand.
Mike Smith, the manager of the Pantry said: "I had the honour of showing the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, The Mayor of Wyre and The Bishop of Blackburn around the facility.
"They were very interested in the work that myself and 33 other volunteers carry out in helping to provide food to people in need in Fleetwood".
Councillor Nicholls praised the commitment of the volunteers and emphasised the importance of community-led initiatives in supporting vulnerable residents.
Ms Parker also praised the team’s efforts. She commended the compassion and coordination demonstrated by the team, noting the significant difference that foodbanks make across Lancashire.

The Bishop of Blackburn reflected on the community impact. He reflected on the spirit of generosity and unity evident throughout the organisation, highlighting the powerful role of partnership in addressing local need.
Representatives from the foodbank said the visit was a meaningful recognition of the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of supporters.
They also welcomed the chance to discuss future plans and ways to strengthen collaboration.
