A man has been jailed after police discovered approximately £2.5million worth of cocaine in the boot of his BMW near Garstang.
Stuart Wilson, 33, of Byresknowe Lane in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, was stopped by officers from the specialist operations road crime team while travelling north on the M6 at excessive speeds on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The grey BMW M3 Competition was brought to a stop on Stubbins Lane, near Garstang.
During the stop, officers noted that Wilson appeared nervous and anxious and asked whether he was going to go to jail.
When questioned, he told officers there was "something in the boot" but claimed he did not know what it was.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 25kg of cocaine inside a box in the boot.
Wilson was arrested at the scene.
He later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and was sentenced at Preston Crown Court on February 5. He was jailed for five years.
A video, released by police, shows the moment Wilson was stopped.
Sergeant Dave Benson of Lancashire Police’s specialist operations road crime team said: "As shown in this case, an important part of our work is identifying those involved in the supply of drugs and ensuring they are brought to justice to help keep our communities safe.
"Drug supply and drug use have a damaging effect on neighbourhoods, bringing disruption, criminal activity and hardship to the people who live there.
"By targeting those responsible, we aim to reduce this harm and protect our communities from further impact."
