Drivers are being warned as overnight resurfacing works are set to begin on a busy road in the coming weeks.

The works will take place in Preston New Road, Blackpool, and will be carried out from 7pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, starting on February 16.

The resurfacing follows recent repairs to kerbs, drainage maintenance, and footpath improvements in the area.

A spokesperson for Blackpool Council said: "We are carrying out overnight resurfacing works on Preston New Road starting from February 16 as part of ongoing improvement works in the area."

The works will be completed in phases and will involve temporary closures at various junctions along the route.

Closures will affect sections connecting to South Park Drive, Whitegate Drive, and Waterloo Road.

Traffic will be diverted via alternative routes, including Whitegate Drive, Knowsley Avenue, West Park Drive, and South Park Drive.

The spokesperson said: "We advise motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time."

Businesses will remain open, and pedestrian access will be maintained where possible, though some delays and disruption are expected.

The overnight works are intended to minimise disruption to daytime traffic, with all closures in effect only during the designated working hours.

Work is subject to weather conditions.
