Aldi has announced major plans to upgrade its stores as part of a wider investment programme.

The improvements, supported by a £2,505,000 investment earmarked for Lancashire in 2026, will include Project Fresh upgrades and will benefit stores in the area, including Cleveleys.

The investment forms part of Aldi’s wider £1.6 billion, two-year investment programme announced last year, which supports the retailer’s long-term goal of operating 1,500 stores across the UK.

Gles Hurley, chief executive officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: "As well as opening new stores, we’re also investing in existing ones to make sure everyone can get what they need from Aldi.

"By extending some stores, and by upgrading and improving others across the country, we can serve even more customers while creating better shopping environments for our colleagues and shoppers."

The announcement follows a busy store opening schedule in 2025, which saw Aldi expand into a range of locations including Kirkintilloch in East Dunbartonshire, Eastbourne in East Sussex, Fulham Broadway in London, and Deeside in Wales.

Aldi recently claimed the title of the UK’s cheapest supermarket for the fifth consecutive year, according to consumer champion Which?.
