The bosses of a Huncoat pub have unveiled their plans for a new beer garden.
Michelle Boult and her husband Darren reopened the Griffin’s Head, in Burnley Road in the township, a year ago after a 12-month closure.
Now, after making internal renovations, including painting walls and woodwork, and replacing outdated furniture, they have moved on to the outside patio.
Owner Thwaites Brewery has applied on their behalf to Hyndburn Council for planning permission for a major upgrade of the existing beer garden.
It includes the demolition of an existing outbuilding, the addition of three car parking spaces, the erection of a pergola structure, and the adaptation of the existing raised deck, steps and entrance lobby.
Images of the proposed new outdoor drinking and eating space are submitted with the application.
Michelle said: “Things have been going really well. We’re on the up.
“We are really chuffed about the new beer garden/patio.
“There has been a demand for it from our regulars who are really excited about it.
“I think it will look great. It will be really transformative.

“We’re planning lots of events for it over the summer. We want to make the most of it.”
Huncoat ward’s Cllr Danny Cassidy said: “It’s an ideal spot for an upgraded beer garden.
“It’s not near any houses. It will be an asset to the community.
“It’s great to see a local pub business thriving when so many are really struggling."
