A controversial nightclub fighting to keep its licence is back before councillors today.
In February, Burnley Council's Licensing Act 2003 Sub Committee revoked the premises licence for Proj3kt, in Hammerton Street, Burnley, after a request from Lancashire Police.
The owners, Jason and Rebecca McQuoid of Mode Property, confirmed they would seek to overturn the decision at the magistrates' court.
After several initial hearings, that appeal is due to be heard in full on Tuesday, January 20.
The club was able to continue operating pending an appeal decision.
But on December 12, a closure order was issued by Blackburn Magistrates Court.
This was confirmed by the Lancashire Magistrates Court in Preston on December 22, with effect for three months until March 22.
Following the issue of the closure order, Burnley Council's Licensing Act 2003 Sub Committee will now review Proj£kt’s premises licence again today at a meeting at the town hall.
The agenda for the meeting says: “Lancashire Constabulary submitted the Closure Order application on the grounds that a person has engaged in anti-social behaviour on the premises and the use of the premises is associated with significant and persistent disorder or persistent serious nuisance to members of the public.”
A police submission to the committee says: “The order was sought following regular disorder associated with the premises.
“This disorder continued even after the previous review of the premises licence in February 2025, when the licence was revoked.
“The premises continued to operate whilst that decision is under appeal.
“Since February 10 2025 there have been 32 incidents of disorder that are deemed linked to the premises.”
In 2023, the nearby Mode nightclub, run by the same operator, had its licence revoked and closed soon afterwards.
In a statement after February’s revocation of Proj£kt’s premises’ licence the McQuoids said: "We are obviously extremely disappointed.
"Only seven per cent of the documented incidents over a two-year period were related to violent disorder from our customers - the remainder is from people out on the streets.”

In 2023, the nearby Mode nightclub, run by the same operator, had its licence revoked and closed soon afterwards.
The sub-committee's chair Cllr Anne Kelly said after the February meeting voted to revoke the club's licence: “The committee are extremely concerned about the level of violent behaviour in and around Proj3kt night club.
"The committee accept that there is evidence of the misuse and sale of illegal substances at Proj3kt nightclub.
"The committee also accept there is evidence of the sale of alcohol to those who are underage.”
The McQuoids have been approached for comment.
