A Darwen teenager will be unable to eat solid food through the Christmas period after being the victim of a vicious assault.

The family of local student Jacob are appealing for witnesses and video evidence to come forward following the assault.

Lancashire Constabulary have confirmed that the 15-year-old suffered serious injuries to his jaw and face, which have required hospital treatment.

Jacob’s mum, Leonie, said that she was aware of a video circulating on social media among a small group of the suspect’s associates, and they are asking the community to identify the people in the footage.

Leonie said: "My son is sitting at home on a liquid diet while the person who did this is still walking the streets.

“We know there is a video out there. We are begging anyone with information or footage to do the right thing so Jacob can get justice."

The police were called to Bolton Road, Darwen, at 5.30 pm on December 16 following the report of the assault.
