The A56 between Rising Bridge and Huncoat has reopened fully following a serious crash yesterday afternoon.
The road was closed for several hours after a driver suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash at around 12.30pm on Thursday (December 4).
National Highways confirmed in the early hours of this morning, at around 2.40am, that the southbound carriageway had reopened following recovery and emergency repairs to a barrier and a lamp post.

The northbound carriageway reopened yesterday evening.
National Highways confirmed that a lamp column was knocked down and there was significant barrier damage.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the crash, which they said was between a Ford Explorer and a Lexus ES 300H.
The driver of the Ford, a man in his 40s, suffered serious leg and pelvis injuries. The driver of the Lexus was not injured.
Debris from the crash strayed onto the opposite carriageway which caused a single-vehicle crash involving an Audi Q4. Nobody from that vehicle was injured.
Sgt Simon Grounds, from Lancashire Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: “As a result of this collision a man has suffered some very serious injuries, and my thoughts are with him at this time.
“Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the police as soon as possible.
“I know this collision caused significant disruption on the road network, and I would just like to thank any motorists impacted for their patience and understanding.”
