Police investigating reports of assault in Blackburn

Armed police were called to a road in Blackburn on Saturday night (November 29) due to reports of a disturbance.

Officers, some of them armed, were called to Wensley Road at around 9.15pm.

People at the scene claim the incident closed the road for a short period and shared footage of several emergency vehicles in the area.

A man had been assaulted inside a property, according to police. He was taken to hospital with head and arm injuries.

A 43-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were later arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and are currently in custody.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.16pm yesterday (November 29) to an address in Wensley Road, Blackburn, to a report of a disturbance.

“Our officers, some of them armed, attended and found that a man had [allegedly] been assaulted inside the property.

“He was taken to hospital with head and arm injuries.

“A 43-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were later arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and are currently in custody.
