The new train timetable set to be introduced by Nortern next month has seen some changes brought in for services in East Lancashire.
Every May and December rail operators across the country introduce new timetables to aid faster and more reliable journeys.
Perhaps the biggest change in East Lancashire is the reduction in the number of request stops.
Northern has confirmed that stations at Pleasington, Hapton, and Burnley Barracks will no longer operate as request stops.
From December 14, trains will automatically call at these stations.
Request stops operate by either clearly signalling to the driver from the platform to stop as the train approches, or by telling a guard on board that you wish to get off at that station.
Pleasington, Hapton, and Burnley Barracks became request stops, along with Huncoat, during the timetable change in May 2012.
Huncoat became a mandatory station again in 2013.
In addition to the request stop changes, Northern said a small number of trains will be retimed to "support better punctuality and improve overall reliability."
As well, the line between Blackburn and Headbolt Lane, which also calls at Accrington, Rose Grove, and Burnley Manchester Road, will see some off-peak trains run with fewer carriages while maintenance and repairs are carried out to the fleet of carriages.
Northern has also said that the reduced Sunday timetable will continue to operate, with services across the county affected by this too.
Services between Blackburn-Todmorden-Manchester Victoria-Southport will become two-hourly on Sundays, as will services between Clitheroe and Manchester Victoria, which run through Blackburn and Darwen.
There are no planned changes on the Blackpool North to York route, which runs through Preston, Blackburn, Accrington, and Burnley.
There are also no changes between Preston and Colne on the slower services, though services will reduce to two-hourly between Preston and Blackpool South.
A number of trains between Blackpool North and Manchester Airport in both directions have been cancelled, while train services between Lancaster and Morecambe have been removed entirely on Sundays, and will be replaced by busses.
Northern said the changes to the schedule have been made as Sundays are outside of their conductors' regular working week.
