Chester Zoo announces 'ultimate' half-term getaway

Chester Zoo has announced its 'ultimate' half-term getaway.

The zoo is inviting families for a memorable getaway at The Reserve, with stays available as short as one night.

Visitors can enjoy adventures around the zoo, exploring a trail of giant animal-inspired pumpkin sculptures, and hidden bat-themed pumpkins.

Other activities include campfire storytelling.

The Reserve has 51 lodges to cater for all guests, offering views of the giraffe paddock or the lake.

Interconnecting lodges can accommodate up to 12 guests (six adults and six children).

A spokesperson for Chester Zoo said: "The ultimate October half-term escape isn’t a flight away – it’s right on the doorstep.

"Whether it’s a family seeking adventure or grandparents wanting quality time with their grandchildren, The Reserve at Chester Zoo is the perfect destination for a memorable getaway."

Guests can select from two sample packages, the Savannah Explorer and the Savannah Adventurer.

The Savannah Explorer package includes a one-night stay, valet parking, a welcome drink, a two-day zoo visitor pass, and exclusive out-of-hours morning access to the Heart of Africa zone.

Evening campfire stories and a £25 dinner allocation per person at the Amboseli Restaurant are also included.

Prices for this package start from £625, based on two adults and two children sharing a Lakeside Lodge on Monday, October 27.

The Lakeside Lodge for the Savannah Adventurer package starts from £745, based on two adults and two children sharing, on Monday, October 27.

This package offers all the benefits of the Explorer package, plus a ranger-guided out-of-hours animal experience and a three-course dinner in the Amboseli Restaurant.

Guests can either help the keepers prepare food for the giraffes or embark on the Evening Ranger Heart of Africa tour, a nighttime safari across the savannah.
