Visit Lancashire releases autumn and winter events guide

The Visit Lancashire Events Guide has been released, with a list of activities across the county from October to December.

From half-term adventures and light festivals to festive experiences and spooky nights out, the guide highlights events for families, couples, and friends.

October’s highlights include the return of the British Textile Biennial, a free contemporary art festival exploring the history and future of textiles across the region.

The festival features 60 artists, 27 exhibitions, and events in venues such as Blackburn Cathedral, The Whitaker Museum, and Lancaster’s Ashton Memorial.

A new event for 2025 is the St Annes Fylde Fest, taking place on October 25.

This free public celebration in St Annes Square will showcase heritage, creativity, and community through food, music, and entertainment.

For thrill-seekers, Scare Kingdom returns to Blackburn from October 3 to November 8.

The Halloween attraction features five scare mazes, 80 live actors, and chilling special effects.

SEA LIFE Blackpool transforms into the Ascarium from October 4 to November 2.

Families can follow an immersive trail to help the Sea Witch find her missing potion ingredients.

Visitors will discover some of the spookiest sea creatures along the way.

Blackpool’s award-winning Lightpool Festival runs from October 15 to November 1.

The festival features light installations, live performances, and 3D projection shows.

It complements the world-famous Illuminations and offers interactive displays for all ages.

Nature fans can enjoy Explore the Super Natural at Martin Mere Wetland Centre in Burscough from October 25 to November 2.

The event includes nature-themed activities, a fungi hunt, willow wand making, and a canoe adventure.

Affinity Lancashire in Fleetwood is hosting Spooky Supervillains Week from October 25 to November 1.

The programme includes magic shows, trick or treat trails, and a Halloween Ball.

In November, Brockholes Nature Reserve is offering a Wildlife Friendly Bonfire Night on November 1 and 5.

The event includes marshmallow toasting, magic shows, and traditional games without fireworks.

Lancaster’s Light Up Lancaster festival returns from November 6 to 8.

The event includes light projections, live performances, and a street food market.

Christmas by the Sea in Blackpool runs from November 15 to January 5.

It features Christmas chalets, simulated snowfalls, a free skating rink, and festive tram rides.

Lancaster on Ice returns from November 22 to January 5.

Visitors can enjoy an ice rink, fairground rides, a tipi bar, and Christmas shopping in the city centre.

Farmer Christmas Walking Adventure at Farmer Ted’s in Ormskirk runs from November 29 to December 23.
