A former Married at First Sight (MAFS) star from Blackburn has called for viewers to have “more compassion and understanding” when watching the new series.
Amy Kenyon, who appeared on the E4 dating show last year and married a complete stranger, issued a statement to her 147,000 Instagram followers before series 10 starts later this month.
Accrington’s Jay Howard, who appeared on the show in 2023, has also issued some words of advice to viewers.
Amy, who has opened up in the past about the trolling she received when the show aired, said “the people on your screens are real” and “deserve kindness and respect”.
The former St Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy pupil said: “How has it been a year already?! Good luck to all the beautiful brides and grooms of MAFS 2025.
“I am mainly posting this to remind the people watching, please remember that the people you see on your screens are real, just like you, with feelings and a story you sometimes don’t fully see.
“The people on your screens deserve kindness and respect, just like in real life.
"Remember that what you watch on TV or online is often edited or shown through a certain lens, so take it with a pinch of salt and try to watch without judgment.
“A little more compassion and understanding can make both the online and offline world a kinder place. Can't wait to see what happens this season! Who will be watching?”
Jay, who attended Rhyddings High School in Oswaldtwistle, also issued a similar statement and encouraged viewers to “be kind”.
She said: “Wishing the absolute best of luck to the MAFS cast of 2025! It’s a wild ride. Embrace it, enjoy it, but don’t get too wrapped up in what you might see online.
“To the viewers - remember that these are ordinary people just like you or me… share your opinions and have your favourites, but be kind. There’s enough negativity in the world at the moment.
“Every single one of you made my experience truly incredible so thank you so much for that… this show really did change my life for the better and I’ve had so many incredible opportunities since!”
MAFS UK 2025 will start on Sunday, September 21, on E4. The contestants have already been revealed, and it appears that no one will be flying the flag for Lancashire this year.
After being paired up by dating experts, the new brides and new grooms will first meet at the altar to make their vows, and then they will take a leap of faith to find love as they jet off on luxury honeymoons and start a bold new chapter in their lives.
They’ll move in together, attend dinner parties with fellow couples, and reunite at commitment ceremonies where every couple will lift the lid on how they really feel in their relationship.
Across their time in the experiment, they’ll be guided by relationship experts Paul C. Brunson, Melanie Schilling and Charlene Douglas.
