FIFA have announced a change to the footballing calendar which could affect Rovers and their rivals from next season.
The number of international breaks will be reducing from four to three, starting from the 2026/27 campaign.
However, one of those breaks will increase from two to three weeks to maintain the number of fixtures that national teams can play.
The amount and regularity of international matches has become a source of debate for supporters in the modern game.
The current schedule sees four breaks and the first, which is currently ongoing, began after only four games had been played in the Championship.
Moreover, the transfer window had not yet closed when some players started to head out on international duty.
The disruption continues in October and November before the league games come thick and fast over the festive period.

The final break of the current season is scheduled for March and there are also international fixtures during the off-season.
But next season, the first break will not begin until September 21 but will run for an addition week until October 6, with countries able to play four fixtures in that period.
The remaining breaks will take place between November 9-17 and then March 22-30 as the new schedule aims to reduce disruption to clubs early in the campaign.
FIFA say their goal is to “make a football calendar that is “fit-for-purpose” for modern needs, contributing for the improvement of the quality of players, clubs and national teams and giving both incentive and opportunity for the detection and development of talent outside a small number of countries.”
Rovers currently have several members of Valerien Ismael’s squad away on international duty with their respective nations.
Lewis Miller is with Australia and new striker Andri Gudjohnsen linked up with the Iceland squad after putting pen to paper at Ewood Park.
Augustus Kargbo is away with Sierra Leone and Balazs Toth was included in the Hungary squad again.
Kristi Montgomery and Igor Tyjon have also been involved for Scotland Under-21s and England Under-18s respectively.
