Aussie cricketer Hudson to host exhibition match in Blackburn

Club professional cricketers from across Lancashire are to turn out at a special exhibition match in Blackburn.

East Lancs Cricket Club, based on Alexandra Meadows off Dukes Brow, will host the match between Hudson Walshaw's XI and the East Lancs Invitational XI on Friday, August 22, from 5.30pm.

Hudson, 21, is East Lancs CC overseas player for the season and has been praised for embedding himself in the local community and volunteering his services to support club projects.

Hudson’s parents have made the trip from Australia, with Hudson’s father Jason actually playing in the match.

A club spokesperson said: “We welcome back some familiar faces for a special exhibition match as we celebrate this year’s overseas player, Hudson Walshaw.

“The event is free and open to everyone, and we hope to see a good crowd and some great cricket.”

Turning out for Hudson’s team will be: Aaron James (Friarmere CC, Pro), Harry Caton (Ramsbottom CC), Joe Ince  (Cherry Tree CC), Conor Nel (Salesbury CC, OA), Jason Walshaw (Grange CC) , Daniel Briggs (Great Harwood CC). James Critchley (Spring View CC) and Corey Holland (Trowbridge CC).

The East Lancs Invitational XI will feature, Niall Boyle (Littleborough CC), Amar Ullah (Settle CC, Pro), Sid Patel (Astley and Tyldesley CC), Ali Sartaj (Rishton CC), Mini Bhada (Cherry Tree CC, Pro), James Westhead (Salesbury CC), Aneeq Hassan (Mawdesley CC, Pro), Ockert Erasmus (Burnley CC, Pro) and Mo Bhada (Oswaldtwistle Immanuel CC, Pro).

On Bank Holiday Monday (August 25), the East Lancs venue will also host Lancashire T20 Super League Finals Day featuring Cheetham Hill XI, Oldham Thunders, Blackburn Knightriders and Blackburn Sultans.

The day begins at 10am with two back-to-back semi-finals and the final at 4pm.

There will be special guest appearances from Pakistan international cricketers Tayyab Tahir and Usama Mir.
