R2M Limited has applied to Hyndburn Council for planning permission for the work at its site at Unit 6, Metcalf Drive, Altham Industrial Estate, in Altham.
The additional storage space would have a new canopied entrance.
In a supporting statement to planners, the firm says: “R2M Ltd is a leading supplier within the UK utility sector, specialising in essential products such as pipes, valves, and fittings for utility and construction companies nationwide.
“R2M is part of the Hawle Austria Group, an Austrian manufacturer of valves and fittings.
“We play a vital role in supporting infrastructure, maintenance, and emergency operations within the UK water industry.
“R2M Ltd is currently operating out of a small warehouse and an office space that is nearing full capacity.
“As our business has expanded, so has the demand for additional warehousing to store and manage a wider product range.
“To support our ambitious growth target of increasing turnover from just over £18 million by an additional £5m over the next five years, it is essential for R2M to expand its workforce and storage space.
“However, our existing facilities are insufficient to support this level of growth.
“Redeveloping the current site to include new warehouses and a more modern office space is therefore crucial.
“Our staff is mostly local, as we operate a 24/7 emergency service, which requires staff from time to time to be on site at odd hours.
“We have placed a huge importance on hiring locally, to give us the advantage of a relatively small distance to the workplace and to support the local community.
“Our current site, while centrally located for our logistical operations, does not adequately support the volume and range of activities required to serve the growing utility and construction markets.
“By redeveloping the site, R2M will be able to expand our warehousing capabilities to stock a broader and deeper range of products.”
A planning statement with the application says: “A key part in the design and layout was to make a feature entrance which is easily accessible from the car park as well as visible from entering the site.
“The operations offices/sales will now have a dedicated trade counter to facilitate trade orders, which also has a direct link to the warehouse.
“A feature entrance and staircase provide direct access to additional office facilities on the first floor.
“A meeting room is provided at ground floor level as well as on the first floor.”
